International Educational Resources for the Management of Immune-Related Adverse Events (irAEs)

Colorado Springs, Colorado. June 3, 2020. Terranova Medica, LLC, in partnership with AIM with Immunotherapy, is pleased to announce the availability of IO Essentials Initiative resources that have been acculturated and translated for an international audience. The Care Step Pathways (CSPs) and Patient Action Plans are region-centric, acculturated/translated resources customized for clinicians in Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, and Spain.

Supported by a grant from Bristol-Myers Squibb, the international educational resources meet an urgent international demand for immuno-oncology educational materials. The regionalized CSPs, developed in conjunction with international clinician-experts, are practical, easy-to-use tools for assessing symptoms, grading toxicity, choosing appropriate management strategies, watching for red flags and more. Working with patient advocates from each specific region, the collaboration also customized and acculturated the Patient Action Plan resources for clinicians to share with their patients.

“We had substantial numbers of learners translating resources through Google Translate from the original IO Essentials site,” according to Tom Davis of Terranova Medica. “We are so pleased to offer these customized, vetted resources for the different regions. With the Google Ad grant that AIM With Immunotherapy has for this site, we have been able to effectively target these regions and get these materials into the hands of additional clinicians who need them.” The availability of patient-directed resources for clinicians to share with patients is also critical. According to Natalie Richardson, of Save Your Skin Foundation (SYSF), the advocacy organization that reviewed the Canadian materials, “SYSF values a long-standing collaboration with AIM at Melanoma and applauds their efforts to create these valuable resources for cancer patients around the globe. SYSF has every confidence that these comprehensive immuno-oncology educational pieces will help patients understand and manage their melanoma diagnosis, treatment, and recommended follow-up routine. To be able to provide these region-specific materials to our community gives SYSF confidence that we are giving solid patient support with accurate and current information about melanoma skin cancer.”
